First Race of the Kootenay Orienteering Club (West) for 2024.
BlackJack ski club is generously offering to host a ski o race! There will be two distances, one for newer skiers and/or younger skiers. A longer distance will be setup for more proficient skiers, see how fast you can go and still collect the control points!
No fees will be due to the KOC(W) club for this race, but you will need a Blackjack membership or pass to do the race.

Lots of racers out enjoying the first orienteering race in the West Kootenay for 2024!
Great to see a lot of enthusiasm from the local Black Jack skiers and a few skiers visiting town. As well, so impressed by the speed of the youth skiers!
As with any good orienteering/navigation race there were Stories of maps being dropped and found by fellow competitors; wrong turns shortly corrected; dropped passport cards but were quickly found; and a few points mixed between the short and the long course. All part of the orienteering/navigation experience! These are the parts of the race that make great stories!
Will definitely return to help Black Jack ski club put on future Ski O events.
Looking forward to future Orienteering races in 2024!
