Turkey Run-Off 2012
Reduce the effects of all that holiday feasting: Enter the Turkey Run-Off Snowshoe Race. All the action starts at noon on December 29th, 2012.  You can bring your own snowshoes or rent a pair from us.  (supply limited).  We encourage participants to carry a cell phone.

Format: The race will be a Scatter Orienteering format with short (2.5k); medium ( 4.0K); or Long (6.0K) handicap options - Participants will receive a map of the Lois Creek Trail System.  On the map will be marked 14 - 16 control points (easily located along the trail system).  The goal is to locate the number of controls, required for your handicap and return to the finish in the shortest time.  The first person back is the winner.

Handicaps:
Top Turkey - approx. 6.0 km course : 14 - 16 control points
Gobbler - approx. 4.0 km course : 8 - 12 control points
Yard Fowl - Approx. 2.5 km course ; 7 - 10 control points

There will also be a  free 1.0 K kids course for those 10 & under.

Fees:
Under $18 - $5 (2012 KOC member)
18 & older - $10 (2012 KOC member)
Under $18 - $10 (non-KOC member)*
18 & older - $15 (non-KOC member)*
Family Max -  $20 plus applicable memberships @ $5 each
Snowshoe Rentals - $10
* entry fee includes 2012 KOC (Kootenay Orienteering Club) membership
** Renew your KOC membership for 2013 only $5 per person

Thank you for pre-registering.  Payment can be made Dec. 29th between 11:00 - 11:45 .  Registrations after Dec. 27th will be subject to a $5 late fee.  
Mass start at 12 noon.
Clinic for for beginners: 11:30 so come to registration early.
