Dusty Downhill Trail Run

The Dusty Downhill is downhill 10K run or hike beginning at the top of Northstar Mountain, in Kimberley, finishing 650 metres lower at the downtown Platzl, Centre 64.
What's Included:
- a shuttle bus ride from the Platzl parking area to the base of the ski hill
- a ride up the quad chair
- the 10K event
- event timing
- a burger and beer or other refreshment at the finish
The Day:
7:30 - 9:30 am | Shuttle bus departs the Visitor Centre |
7:45 am | Registration & check-in at Kimberley Alpine Resort |
8:15 | 15K Upside Downhill starts from the base of the Quad Chair |
8:30 am | Quad chairlift begins operation for first riders |
9:00 - 9:30 am | 10K Dusty Downhill Hikers depart ,when ready, from Kootenay Lodge (top of the hill) |
9:40 am | Last quad chairlift departs |
10:00 am | 10K Dusty Downhill Run starts from Kootenay house |
11:30 am | Burgers and Hot Dogs at the Finish |
12:30 am | Join the fun at First Saturday |
Registration:
Pre-registration is strongly encouraged to help ensure food and rides for all. We even give you a discount or two to pre-register: the earlier the better.
All inclusive pricing:
- $20 until July 10th
- $25 until July 28th
- $30 until registration closes
This event is organized by the Kootenay Orienteering Club, a member club of the Canadian Orienteering Federation. Under the terms of our insurance agreement all participants must have or purchase a $5.00 annual members at the time of registering. If you have participated at one of our many other events such as Round the Mountain or the Turkey Run off then you are already a member.
As this event is a fund raiser, we also have provided you the opportunity to make an additional donation to First Saturday's, if you so choose.
The Categories
- 10K Dusty Downhill Run - You ride the lift then start at the top
- 10K Dusty Downhill Hike - You ride the lift then start at the top
- 15K Upside Downhill - You skip the lift, walk / run to the top then proceed to the bottom on the Dusty Downhill course.
Did we mention the view is amazing from the top of the hill?
IMPORTANT: This is a self supported event. There will be no aid stations, no first aid nor water on the course. All participants are responsible for being totally self-supported. This a rough trail with hazardous areas.
The Dusty Downhill is a fun raiser for First Saturday's, a monthly event featuring artists, entertainment, music, food plus a range of other activities
