Courses Description:
- 10.5km - the loop of this “up and down a hill” is 99% being a single track. The runners start at the same time and place as the 5km racers. The trail climbs right from the start through several switchbacks and reaching to a T-intersection roughly after 1km. Signs will direct you to the right. The first climb is 4.5km short with over 800m gain followed by a short descent. When you hit a road turn right and run/walk through the parking lot where we will have an aid station. From there it is 0.5km climb to the top of Mt. Swansea. Enjoy the views. From there it’s all downhill. The first part of the descent is a bi-t steeper and more technical. Take your time. After 1.5km you will come to a fork. Stay to your left and keep running down. This part of the descent will be more gradual with lots of switchbacks. Stay on the trail. Eventually you will join the same trail that you took up. No extra price for running up Mt. Swansea twice. Make sure that you run downhill back to your vehicle and the finish line. Refreshments and rewards will be waiting there for you.
- 5km - runners start at the same time and place as the 10.5km racers. The trail climbs up until you reach a T-intersection where you take the left trail option. This section leads up and up to the tower overlooking the Valley. After the tower, racers head downhill to another intersection where you’ll turn right. Enjoy a beautiful descent back to the parking lot.
Aid station: at the upper parking lot (half way) with water and fruit
Finish Line: homemade baking, fruit and refreshments for all the participants
Directions from highway 93: Turn onto Windermere loop road and drive about 3km until you see the Mt Swansea sign. Turn towards the mountain and park at the Gypsom Mine. (this loop can be accessed driving north or south on the highway either turning at the bowling alley or Windermere Golf Course)
Parking: please park at the Mine parking lot rather than driving up to the start line, thanks
