Kickoff TNT (Thursday Night Training) event in Cranbrook. SI timing and controls. Join us for a social afterwards at the Firehall. Spring Series will generally alternate weeks between Cranbrook and Kimberley.

Please sign up by noon on Wednesday April 19 (day before event) to ensure a map is printed for you.

This is an urban orienteering event. The map is at 1:4000 with 2m contours and includes two school grounds (Laurie Middle School and Mt Baker Secondary School), residential streets, and parks. The focus is on making good route choices - finding the most efficient routes to get between controls – while still moving fast. The control locations themselves are not difficult to find. There are two courses. The SHORT is about 2.5 km and the route choices are straight-forward. It is suitable for beginners or those who want a short outing. The LONG is about 4 km and has more options for routes.

For beginners there will be an introduction to orienteering session at 6:00 pm before starting the course.

Please note that on orienteering maps areas coloured olive green (such as private property or park flower beds) are out of bounds! Learn more about orienteering map symbols at map-symbols (Baker-Laurie is a Sprint ISSprOM 2019 map) and the symbols on the course descriptions at control-descriptions

Start Location: Meet by the large sign in the NE corner of the Western Financial Place parking lot - see map below - at 6:30 pm (6:15 pm for beginner instruction).

TNT events are free but we require a 2023 Kootenay Orienteering & Trail Runners Membership. Membership Available here.
