Cranbrook Orienteering Open House for Beginners and Spring Season Orienteering event #2 Standard
May 1st 2025 6:00pm - 8:00pm
For all those in Cranbrook who are interested in learning what Orienteering is all about, (or those who couldn't attend last weeks Kimberley Orienteering Open House Event), come join us for our "Cranbrook Orienteering Open House". Experienced Kootenay Orienteering Club members will be there to teach you the basics of orienteering so that you will feel more confident navigating your way around an orienteering course. You do not have to be a member of the club to attend this Open House event. The Open House is open to anyone, although we ask that youth 13 and under be accompanied by an adult. Orienteering is a sport that you can do as a group/family so bring the kids and learn what it is all about. Cost: $2-to be collected at the Open House when you sign in. Once you learn some of the basics, you can take a map and try a course or two to get the hang of things. We will have sessions starting at 6:00 and then again at 6:30. Please if you are planning on attending, sign up below for your desired starting time and tell us how many are in your group. We hope to see lots of new faces and we look forward to showing you what orienteering is all about!
This event will take place on our Idlewild Park Map in Cranbrook. Park in the Idlewild parking lot off of 9 St. S and follow the signs. (See accompanying map for location)
For those who are already club members, there will be 2 regular courses to choose from.
*Note: Returning members, please sign up for your 2025 membership using our on-line membership platform prior to the event. (This will be up and ready to go in early April.)
