Ski Orienteering is a fun combination of cross-country skiing, map reading and route finding - a different way to explore the trails. For more than a decade, we have partnered with Kimberley Nordic Club to bring Ski Orienteering to our community - and we hope to bring it to other communities across the Kootenays soon.

New for this Season at the KNC - you can experience Ski O whenever you want, on your own time, for no extra cost. A permanent course is set up that will change every few weeks. Simply go to the Kiosk and ask for a Ski Orienteering map. If you have never orienteered before, there is also a Ski Orienteering Guide that you can quickly refer to before you set out. That guide will tell you all you need to know. If all goes well the course will change every few weeks to keep it fresh.

Try out Ski O recreationally on your own, ski it with your family to enjoy a day out on the trails together, or, if you want to go that one step up - challenge your friends or friendly rivals.

If you try out Ski Orienteering at the KNC and want to experience more - come to one of the upcoming Ski O events. Courses will be a bit more involved and you'll get the full Ski O experience with electronic punching and timing - and socializing too. The next two events are scheduled for:

Saturday February 17th
Nordic Fest on Sunday March 10th
