The O-Mazing Race is Back
One of the club's most popular events and a perfect event for all ages. Starting at the Platzl Gazebo the O-Mazing Race takes place in Downtown Kimberley and immediate area. This is an ideal introduction to the basics of map reading and orienteering.
Format: The format is simple. Participants are given a map showing the streets, parks and trails of an area within a 1 km radius of the gazebo. Within that area and marked on the map will be 14 - 16 checkpoints. You have 60 minutes to find as many of the checkpoints as you can. Everyone that participates will be entered into prize draw.
- You can particpate as a team, family or as an individual. Teams must stay together throughout the event.
- *If you don't want to run or hike, you can also ride your bike"
- There will be a special prize for the largest team. We'll have a weigh scale on site. (just kidding)
Schedule:
6:00 pm - Registration @ the plats gazebo, Downtown Kimberley
6:20 pm - Pre-register you can leave a bit early. (10 minutes bonus time)
6:30 pm - Mass start
7:30 pm - O-Mazing Race is over for another year
Cost: Free for 2016 Kootenay Orienteering & Trail Runners Club members. Non -members $5.00 which includes a 2016 membership.
Pre-registration encouraged - Helps us determine how many O-Mazing maps to prepare.
Post-event wind-down: Join us for pizza and a refreshment at Stonefire Pizza.
